facebook ^^

Facebook - a popular name among those who are so into it. Individuals who have an account in Facebook are now using more of their time to socialize with other people amidst the distance and lack of time. And even if a community like Facebook serves numerous advantages, it also proves to have certain disadvantages as well. There are now series of improvements in the system just to make up with the shortcomings. Arguments regarding the different advantages and disadvantages of Facebook are stated below.
Advantages
· Allows user search for new and old friends
· Accessible to chosen universities having a high level of security
· Makes it less awkward when communicating with strangers or people you are not familiar with
· Love attraction - can be used as a dating service system
· Makes it easier to join groups having similar likes and dislikes
· Allows members to check students who are taking the same class, living within the same area, or coming from the same academy
Disadvantages
· Overcrowding
· Weakening long distance relationship
· Unsupported by physical adjacency
· Contributes wide-range procrastination
· Rampant addiction
· Stalking is possible
· Acquaintances be labeled as friends
Surely, the disadvantages don't pose a threat to you just by merely looking at it. Someone else has to prove that what users do with their profile is directly in proportion with what can happen to them. A user must understand what he is trying to give out otherwise things might get messy and people will mistook them as someone else.
It is quite obvious that a trade off is happening between the advantages and disadvantages of Facebook. While it increases the communication and connection between friends and the online community it also increases the risk of procrastination and makes it easier for others to stalk a user. Worse, some are actually punished for what they put on their profile and would claim that it was there only for fun.
Despite the above mentioned advantages and disadvantages of an online networking service, it still is gaining demand and popularity among the young crowd. There are about 10,000 students (professionals and young professionals not yet included) who are joining into Facebook every day. This is regardless of the age, race and country. Some are now trying to criticize the status of professionalism of this site whether it's just another fad like other online networking services are.

Long Jokes and Stories
There are a few things guaranteed to strike fear in the heart of even the strongest war veteran: --a 3-year old who has just begun wearing big-kid underclothes squatted in the corner with a look of fierce concentration on his face; --a little tiny voice from the back seat saying 'I gots to use the potty' when you are in bumper to bumper traffic; --total silence from a room full of children; --a boom/crash from the other room and the sound of many feet scampering in all directions; --a boom/crash from the other room...and silence; --the sound of a flush from a bathroom occupied only by a 2 year old --all the kids huddled in the corner, whispering, when all you can overhear are the words, "Don't tell Mom!"

The First Parent
by Bill Cosby

Whenever your kids are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to his kids.
After creating Heaven and Earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said to them was: "Don't."
"Don't what?", Adam replied.
"Don't eat the forbidden fruit."
"Forbidden fruit? Really? Where is it?"
"It's over there," said God, wondering why he hadn't stopped after making the elephants.
A few minutes later God saw the kids having an apple break and He was angry.
"Didn't I tell you not to eat that fruit?" the First Parent asked.
"Uh huh," Adam replied.
"Then why did you?"
"I dunno," Adam answered.
God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own.
Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed. But there is reassurance in this story.
If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give them wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself.
If God had trouble handling children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?

HOW TO RECOVER FROM ILLNESS

Instructions

    • 1
Accept personal responsibility for your illness. Understand that it's up to you to follow a treatment plan and get help when you need it. Work closely with your doctor to devise a treatment plan to recover from the mental illness. Stick to your plan.
    • 2
Educate yourself so that you know all about your mental illness. Understanding your illness can help you recover. It helps you make wise choices about your treatment and the way you live your life. Visit the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) website to inform yourself, find support and take action.
    • Get involved in education and support group programs for your specific type of mental illness. NAMI will assist you in finding local support groups and online communities and discussion groups to help you better recover from your mental illness.
    • 4
Monitor yourself daily to begin recognizing which daily events may trigger or increase your symptoms. This can help you avoid those triggers completely, or at least recognize warnings signs that you may have an episode.
    • 5
Develop coping strategies for unexpected situations that can trigger symptoms. Unexpected things happen in life that can throw anyone off their path. An argument with your spouse, job loss or a final notice on a bill could create stress and anxiety which in turn can trigger certain symptoms and behavior indicating mental illness.
    • 6
Create a plan for dealing with situations where you realize you may be in trouble. Your plan can include contacting your spouse, a parent, trusted friend or doctor to help stabilize the situation so you can continue to recover from mental illness.
    • 7
Build some form of exercise into your daily routine, even if you don't feel like it. Exercise releases endorphins which helps you feel better and can help you recover from mental illness. Go for daily walks or work with your doctor to come up with a realistic exercise plan to help in your recovery.

STRESS !!!

Stress and homeostasis[edit]

The term stress had none of its contemporary connotations before the 1920s. It is a form of the Middle English destresse, derived via Old French from the Latin stringere, "to draw tight."[1] The word had long been in use in physics to refer to the internal distribution of a force exerted on a material body, resulting in strain. In the 1920s and 1930s biological and psychological circles occasionally used the term to refer to a mental strain or to a harmful environmental agent that could cause illness. Walter Cannon used it in 1926 to refer to external factors that disrupted what he called homeostasis.[2] But "[...] Stress as an explanation of lived experience is absent from both lay and expert life narratives before the 1930s".[3]
Homeostasis is a concept central to the idea of stress. In biology, most biochemical processes strive to maintain equilibrium, a steady state that exists more as an ideal and less as an achievable condition. Environmental factors, internal or external stimuli, continually disrupt homeostasis; an organism’s present condition is a state in constant flux moving about a homeostatic point that is that organism’s optimal condition for living. Factors causing an organism’s condition to diverge too far from homeostasis can be experienced as stress. A life-threatening situation such as a physical insult or prolonged starvation can greatly disrupt homeostasis. On the other hand, an organism’s effortful attempt at restoring conditions back to or near homeostasis, often consuming energy and natural resources, can also be interpreted as stress. In such instances, an organism’s fight-or-flight response recruits the body's energy stores and focuses attention to overcome the challenge at hand.[citation needed]
The ambiguity in defining this phenomenon was first recognized by Hans Selye (1907-1982) in 1926. In 1951 a commentator loosely summarized Selye's view of stress as something that "…in addition to being itself, was also the cause of itself, and the result of itself."[4][5] First to use the term in a biological context, Selye continued to define stress as "the non-specific response of the body to any demand placed upon it". As of 2011 neuroscientists such as Bruce McEwen and Jaap Koolhaas believe that stress, based on years of empirical research, "should be restricted to conditions where an environmental demand exceeds the natural regulatory capacity of an organism".[6] Despite the numerous definitions[which?] given to stress, homeostasis appears to lie at its core

FRIENDS !

Sharing good times with good friends is the greatest joy. This is the stuff that makes life worthwhile. Whether sharing a meal together or a good conversation, there is nothing more fulfilling then spending time with friends. We must be thankful for the friendships that come our way for not all are blessed with the skills to form deep relationships. Those of us that do have friends must never take for granted the gift bestowed upon us.
